Cheese Crumbles Take the World by Storm
The 2017 International Pizza Expo, the largest pizza show in the world, was held this past March in Las Vegas. This is where the big wigs in the pizza industry come together to get a taste for flavor trends and new products to keep their products on the cutting edge.
Of course, Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery was there. We featured our new All Natural Cheese Curd Crumbles. Much finer than our regular curds, Crumbles offer the same unique characteristics that cheese curd fans love in terms of flavor, texture and melt. Our goal was to get pizza chefs thinking about creative cheese applications using our Crumbles in place of traditional mozzarella and Parmesan, to creative something truly new and unique.
When it comes to pizza, bold flavors, customization and authenticity are three key trends that are top of mind for consumers. Keeping these trends in mind, we teamed up with the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board (WMMB) to showcase how chefs are using specialty cheese from Wisconsin to bring these elements to life and meet consumer demand with innovative pizza combinations.
Our contribution was a buffalo and ranch cheese curd pizza, which featured not one, but two, flavors of our All Natural Cheese Curd Crumbles! We paired our buffalo-flavored and ranch-flavored Cheese Curd Crumbles with sour cream, breaded chicken, and scallions to create an awesome flavor sensation attendees loved!
Imagine the spicy flavor of buffalo, the creaminess of Ranch dressing, and the slightly salty taste and chewy texture of a cheese curd, all in one bite!
You’ll want to keep an eye on the menu of your favorite pizzeria… you just might see some cheese curd crumble combinations appearing on their menu soon!
