Ellsworth, Wisconsin has officially been recognized as the āCheese Curd Capitalā of the state (and, by logical extension, the world) since 1984. But the story goes beyond one small townās deserved reputation for making the best cheese curds known to mankind. In fact, it goes all the way back to 1910, when local dairy farmers pooled their resources and formed what is now known as the Ellsworth Creamery Cooperative.
In the century-plus that followed, the cooperative has expanded to two other facilities in the Dairy State. Best-in-class pasteurized process cheese products are made in New London, while Menomonie churns out small-batch artisan cheeses that consistently rank among the best in the world in international competitions.Ā
At the heart of it all are the families who continue to produce the milk that makes it all possible, and maintain an unwavering collective pride in ensuring the highest-possible quality youāll find in everything bearing the Ellsworth name.Ā
